Join other volunteers from across the United States and around the world to support the initiatives and mission of Sri Lanka Unites! Help further this organization’s efforts to bring Sri Lanka’s young people together-bridging the gap between ethnicities, religions and geographical regions that was created by the country’s civil war. You will be assisting with pre-conference planning and setup. Your mere presence will send the valuable message that the international community is unwavering in its support of a united Sri Lanka.

About Sri Lanka
- Eighty thousand Sri Lankans lost their lives in a civil war that ended in 2009.
- One hundred thousand-plus children were left orphaned.
- More than 200,000 Sri Lankans have been displaced.
Ethnic and religious divisions were the catalysts for over two decades of a brutal and bloody Civil War in Sri Lanka. When the war was officially declared over in May, 2009, the country was left in economic and political chaos. The generation that has literally known only war from the time they were born has been challenged with the task of healing the hopelessness, and eradicating the hatred and fear that plagued two previous generations.
Northland’s long-standing partnership with Kithu Sevana Church and its Pastor, Adrian de Visser, has given us an opportunity to be part of Sri Lankan reconciliation. Prashan de Visser, the de Visser’s eldest son, is a 25 year old young man who is driven with a relentless passion to help bring peace and unity among his fellow countrymen. Prashan, along with several other like-minded young Sri Lankans, has founded an organization called Sri Lanka Unites.
Sri Lanka Unites is hosting a conference to provide a safe environment to begin breaking down negative stereotypes, promote mutual understanding of religious and cultural backgrounds, and help identify future leaders who will rise up and provide a new voice of unity for the future of their nation.
