- Islam is the official religion of Egypt.
- It is illegal to convert from Islam to Christianity.
- While there is no legal ban against proselytizing Muslims, the government restricts such efforts through harassment and charges of inciting sectarian strife.
Ever since God parted the Red Sea to allow Moses and the Israelites to escape from Pharaoh and the Egyptian army, Egypt has remained central to God’s mission of reaching H is people in the Arab world. Having led Joseph and Mary there to protect Jesus from Herod’s massacre, He positioned Egypt as the gateway to Christianity in the Middle East. Through Northland’s long partnership with Kasr El Dobara Evangelical Church, we have had the privilege of serving alongside our Egyptian brothers and sisters in bringing the message of Christ to the Muslim world. Egypt is considered by believers worldwide to be central to the mission of breaking the stronghold Islam has upon the Middle East and, in turn, on the rest of the Muslim populations throughout the world.
